If you are going to move to another city, there are some instances wherein the ones affected are your kids. You may even encounter some rebellion problems with your teenagers. But since you cannot leave them behind, what should you do?
The first thing you must do is you must be honest with your children. You have to sit them down in the living room as you have a talk as a family. Let them know what is currently happening and also explain to them why you need to move. It is quite normal for children to get angry as they will be afraid of starting a new life in another town with no friends. Give your teen sometime to cool off instead of forcing the issue on her. Once they have calmed down, you can talk to them about the benefits of moving.
When your children have fully grasped the idea of the move, you should make the process interactive. This means that you must involve them so that they will feel like they have their own responsibility. Throughout the whole process, keep praising them so that they will enjoy the move instead of getting upset. By being able to do this, you are opening up their minds to the move and the new possibilities that await them in the new town. Also, you are clearing up every communication among you and your kids.
Keep your cool and let things stay upbeat and positive. This will let your kids recognize the move as a positive thing. Make sure that you let them participate in the activity even when you are scheduling the move. As such, you should give your kids enough time so they can be fully accustomed and can adjust well to the new home and environment so that they can start making new friends once again.
But of course, there are some instances wherein it really is unavoidable to move while at a time which is scary and inconvenient for your kids. So if you are moving in the middle of your kid’s school year, you must make counseling or other resources available to your kids so that their moving experience is not as painful as they expect it to be.
Another major concern of older kids is that they will leave behind their friends. Because of this, you should sit your kid down and explain to him or her how important this move is. Together, you can figure out something so that your child can still maintain a healthy communication with his friends.
Once the big moving day arrives, you should involve your kids as you get everything ready so you can start moving. If however, they become a hindrance instead of helping, you can take them someplace else where they can spend the day being active in. Or you might even consider hiring a babysitter to watch your kids while you prepare everything for the move.
The best way you can make your kids become comfortable and less afraid about the move is to talk to them. If you all have an open communication, then you can clear out any doubt they have about the new home you all are moving into.

When you are packing the things in the bedrooms, it can be pretty frustrating since there are so many items that you will need to pack. Because of this, you will need to sort out and pack the least used bedroom first. If you have a guest room or spare room, you can start packing the things in the room so that you can get started on your move. Since they are least used, they will not be needed anytime soon which means they should be the first to be packed. Once you have packed the items in the room, you can also use these rooms as a place where you can store the packed boxes and the furniture which you have dismantled.
With regards to packing, you can involve the rest of your family by letting them pack their own things in their own rooms. You can let your kids help by letting them sort out their toy bins, closets and dressers so that they can choose what they want to keep and what they would like to give or sell. In addition, you can teach your kids what things are essential to them by letting them choose them. But before you do, you must explain to them that this box can only contain the things which they will need during the moving trip and the first few nights in your new home.
Also, you will need to choose the clothing items which you will be needing during the trip and even the first nights in your home. You must set these items aside by packing them in a suitcase which you can later on carry with you.
The first thing you need to do with packing your bedroom is to start sorting your closet. This is a relatively easy task which you can do by yourself. All you need to do is choose which ones you are still using, which ones you don’t need, and even the ones that don’t fit you anymore. Since it can be hard to let go of clothes sometimes, you have to remember that better things are coming your way. Thus, you can say goodbye to that shirt you have been keeping which was given to you by your first boyfriend.
You can also let your children sort out their closets and pack the clothes they need. This is one way you can start giving them their own independence as well as teaching them how to make decisions on their own. Once you are done with the closet, you should next deal with your dresser, desk drawers and the other hiding spaces which are in your room.
When you want to pack your bedroom, it is important to start with the small things which are in your dresser, drawer, closet and any other small hiding spaces in the room. That way, you can clear out the things which you can carry and also avoid them from getting broken or lost in the process of moving.
